Easy, No Yeast Pizza Dough
Fridays tend to be pizza night around here. A tradition my boys seem to love! I had high hopes of getting dinner ready this afternoon while my oldest was at school, but solo parenting knocked me out and a nap with my 2nd won this time. It was much needed for both of us! Unfortunately, I didn’t get dinner started until after 4 pm, which is really late around here when you have a 6-year-old who comes home from school starving! He eats lunch at 10:45 in the morning and I don’t pick him up until 3:50! Poor little guy is READY to eat once we are home. Thankfully I had this SUPER easy pizza dough recipe up my sleeve to get dinner on the table fast! I know you will love it too!
Friday night pizza night that lands on Valentine’s Day required me to shape the dough like a heart <3
This pizza dough recipe is dairy-free and doesn’t require yeast because we use self-rising flour. Perfect to top with whatever ingredients your family loves!
This meal was extra eventful for me, because I have been working on introducing tomatoes to Sam. On his allergy report, he has a slight sensitivity to tomatoes, and our Allergist has encouraged us to keep introducing foods that are a level 2 and below, so he doesn’t develop further allergies to them. I’ve served him a tomato-based dinner a few times since then, but he hasn’t eaten any of them, until tonight! He had almost an entire piece of pizza and didn’t seem to have any reactions to the tomato sauce! For some reason cutting tomatoes out of our meals has been tricky for me, so I am excited to see it might be something we can eat more often.
Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising flour
¾ cup plant-based yogurt (unsweetened, plain)
1–2 tablespoons olive oil (optional, for softness)
¼ teaspoon garlic powder or Italian seasoning (optional, for flavor)
Instructions:
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and yogurt. Add olive oil and seasonings if using. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3–5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.Shape the Dough
Roll out the dough into your desired pizza shape and thickness (about ¼ inch thick is ideal).Top Your Pizza
Transfer the dough to a greased or parchment-lined pizza pan. Add your favorite plant-based sauce, toppings, and cheese.Bake
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Bake the pizza for 10–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the toppings are cooked.
Notes:
If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by combining 2 cups all-purpose flour with 1 tablespoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt.
For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
Enjoy your quick and easy pizza night!
